Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) in Katunayake is Sri Lanka's main airport, about 35 km north of Colombo. It handles almost all international flights to and from the country.
Getting there and check-in
From Colombo, the drive takes roughly 45–60 minutes via the Colombo–Katunayake Expressway (E03). For international flights, arrive 3 hours ahead — check-in usually closes 60 minutes before departure.
Duty-free and shopping
Sri Lanka is well known for its arrivals duty-free, where returning residents can buy electronics and household appliances, as well as the usual departures shopping, perfumes and liquor.
